MASKS
A catalog is a complete 16 × 16 questionnaire: sixteen Scoring Factor Sets (SFSs), each containing sixteen Scoring Factors (SFs), for 256 questions. A mask selects which of those questions must have a positive answer for a particular decision.
The same assessment can serve different readers. A purchaser can select acceptance requirements, an operator can select maintenance requirements, and a reviewer can select a benchmark. Each mask keeps the selected question identities visible and points back to any unmet condition.
Three ways to select requirements
Choose the scope you need: a complete catalog, one SFS, or explicitly selected SFs. Every mask still refers to one complete catalog and its exact snapshot. Each section presents editable mask records, their purpose and scope, and a comparison suited to its selected positions.
Complete catalog masks
Sixteen mask fields over all 256 positions. Compare a complete assessment profile.
Scoring Factor Set masks
A four-digit mask for one SFS. Compare the sixteen resolved answers in that set.
Individual SF masks
Explicit SF positions, within one set or across sets. Compare only their resolved answers.
What the bits mean
| Mask bit | Meaning |
|---|---|
1 | This question must be satisfied. |
0 | This question is excluded from this comparison. |
For answers S and mask M, calculate R = S AND M. The selected requirements are satisfied when R = M. Calculate D = R XOR M to locate unmet requirements: each 1 in D points to a required SF whose answer is 0. A zero mask field selects no questions in that SFS; it does not require them to fail.
Mask and assessment positions must have the same question meanings. Different catalog definitions or unreviewed translation mappings cannot be compared just because they use the same indices. A mask records a requirement selection, while the assessment retains the evidence and judgments behind its answers.
